Con fecha de 06 de Marzo de 2020 la Asociación “Hispania Nostra” (Asociación nacida en 2007 con la finalidad de dar a conocer y proteger aquella parte del Patrimonio Cultural y Natural español que se encuentra abandonado y en peligro de desaparición) ha incluido en su “ lista roja” la iglesia y monasterio de San Pedro de Lobás en la aldea de Mosteiro, ayuntamiento de O Carballiño (Ourense). Muchas tradiciones religiosas hunden sus raíces en antiguos ritos y cultos paganos que el cristianismo trató de asimilar por medio de nuevas advocaciones vinculadas a diferentes celebraciones y localizaciones paganas. En este sentido, el ritual seguido en la noche de San Juan responde a una tradición pagana cuya naturaleza animista se ha conservado en la cultura popular de Galicia y otras regiones del arco atlántico europeo, quizá distorsionada con aportaciones mágicas posteriores que sugieren un origen alquimista.
